After graduating from CMU, Stephanie began her professional career in residential design. She also spent time in Utah working on the commercial side of design in systems/office furniture. Moving back to Detroit, she spent time at an architecture firm designing hotel projects. “I enjoyed commercial work but always had my heart set on residential design,” says Stephanie. “I found I really enjoyed the personal and technical aspect of what goes into designing kitchens, bathrooms, and cabinet related work.”
Stephanie describes how she enjoys incorporating character into her work: “I want something with character. As an example, I’ve always loved Pewabic Pottery and would love to incorporate that somehow, whether that be a backsplash tile or somewhere else. I love the look of a large, walnut wood island accenting a simple perimeter finish. Although I like character and textured materials, I still bring in materials that have a clean, light finish to give a bit of contrast.”
When she’s not designing, Stephanie follows her passion for sports, especially Red Wings hockey and Wolverines football. Stephanie loves crossfit, being outside, and being active, and her yellow Labrador accompanies her on her adventures.
